12:57am
you were supporting public television. why? >> well, you know, as a child i grew up watching public television. it was really influential, and i think, you know, parents and other people can all say that their children, when they see something that inspires them, they kind of gravitate toward that. so as a child, when i was watching public television, i got inspired to do music, so now as an adult, i look back and i say, you know, that played an important part in my life, and i want to reach out and do something i can to help support public television so it'll be there for our children. >> but you also support a lot of other very worthwhile things that come up in life that really touch the lives of so many people, and you're there to help them. how did that start? >> well, you know, i thank god for my gift to write music, and, since my music kind of has a way of comforting people, i also want to do more than that. i want to be there in person to help, you know, not only as a performer, but also, you know, to give back through monetary ways or just spending my time with those organizations to give
